When We Were Young

Nick Horby's review of Kid A, written for The New Yorker, October 20, 2000

I hope to make records for sixteen year olds. Sixteen was a great year for music.

  1. lemme get this straight:

    praise for 'creep,'
    bashing of 'paranoid android,'
and no mention of 'how to disappear completely' on a review of kid a.

    yiiikes. really painful to read.

that's got to be an embarrassing review for hornby in hindsight, kid a/amnesiac possibly being the greatest record of the decade and all.

  2. especially considering the importance of music within his writings!

his views concerning the function (re: compartmentalization) of music is interesting, to say the least. it sort of takes all the fun out of it.
